Stand for Children is an innovative grassroots organization that organizes parents, teachers and concerned residents to be the collective voice that encourages elected officials and community residents to invest in children and their future.
Memphis Stand for Children, in existence since 2005, is the go-to source for residents to learn more about new developments surrounding our public education system, particularly the merger of Memphis and Shelby County Schools. Currently, they are building a diverse coalition of education advocates and champions with their Put Education First Campaign – an effort to encourage residents and leaders to demand a schools’ consolidation plan that meets the best interests of all local children, and expand the community base of support that is needed to truly transform our schools.
Stand for Children offers several opportunities to get involved including: Become a dues-paying member to stay informed and updated on what’s happening in our public schools; Join a Parent Team, currently operating in multiple neighborhoods and schools across Memphis and Shelby County; Participate in community events and training activities; Volunteer to organize and host Education Meet-Up Discussions.
